Working Paper Series

TiDA is preparing to launch a series of small-scale joint research projects carried out by a team of local and international investigators.  Each project will involve extensive field work, the production of a 15-20 page paper, and the convening of a symposium to discuss findings.

Political Islam at a Crossroads

In partnership with German funders, TiDA has undertaken a major study of the Islamic movement in Gaza, drawing on extensive interviews with a wide spectrum of its leading actors.

The result is a mosaic of testimony pieced together from multiple voices and views. Conversations focus on the Islamist movement’s complex origins in Gaza; its evolving sense of mission and its assessment of its own current performance in advancing that mission; its strategic orientation as it seeks to plot its course in the face of treacherous political realities; and its possible futures in the Strip, the region, and the world.

Readers for Life: Nurturing a Culture of Literacy in Gaza

Tida has completed the initial research phase of a project aimed at promoting a love of books in Gaza. The implementation phase will be organized around a two fold strategy: first, to raise awareness among parents of young children that books are “food for the brain” that help strengthen cognitive and emotional development; and second, to make available beautiful, inexpensive texts for infants and toddlers.
